The wife of an Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office deputy involved in a murder-suicide in February now faces a lawsuit brought by the county district attorney seeking the forfeiture of her home and bank accounts.

The lawsuit, filed June 1, comes as Karen Eames faces charges brought last month for grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property for her alleged role in her husband’s theft of more than $500,000 in county funds.

Eames’ husband, Isaac Eames, shot and killed his son and left his wife injured before taking his own life in Brewerton on February 7.

Isaac Eames allegedly embezzled roughly $529,000 from from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Civil bank account, authorities alleged, and prosecutors have said Karen Eames was involved and aware.

District Attorney William Fitzpatrick’s lawsuit asks a court to force Karen Eames forfeit the family’s home in Clay, which he claims was built using stolen money, two cars and several bank accounts.
